1. What size room will the heater warm?
Our 400 Watt heater model has been specifically designed to heat an average room of 10-12 square metres (100-150 sq. ft) of floor area. This ratio will vary depending on the combinations of factors such as climate, room insulation, number of windows, floor coverings and ceiling height. You can add as many heaters as you like to heat any size room, home or office, turning the heaters into an inexpensive and economical central heating system.

2. How economical is it to run the heater?
It is the most economical heater on the market today. Because the heater is of such a low wattage (only 260 or 400 Watts), in Canada the cost is approximately 1.5 to 3 cents of electricity per hour. With an energy-saving thermostat, these figures can be reduced even further.

3. What type of heater is an Econo-Heater?
An electric plug-in, wall mounted panel heater.

4. What is the heater made out of?
A cement-fibre board (non asbestos) more specifically a "non-combustible fibre board". A 2 metre (6 ft) power cord and plug is connected to the heater via a custom-designed housing located at the bottom right hand corner of the 600mm x 600mm (2 ft x 2 ft) square heater (400 Watt).

5. How does the heater work and why is the heater so effective?
Unlike a central heating system, portable fan heaters or baseboards, which use forced convection or a very hot element, ECONO-HEATERS create very efficient natural circulation of warm air within a room. They are mounted flush with the wall with spacers, creating an air gap against the large heater surface. Cold air is then drawn (inducted) into the air gap between the heater and the wall and heated rapidly to rise out of heater.

The entire surface of the heater, in combination with your wall, is used to circulate the warm air around the room. It is this technology that allows ECONO-HEATERS to leverage the physics of natural warm air convection and be more efficient, effective and safer than radiator, fan, ceramic, gas and other types of heaters.

6. Is the heater safe for my children, elderly guests or pets?
YES! The ECONO-HEATER has no exposed elements and a safe surface temperature (approximately 75°C). However, an infant or baby should not be left unattended as prolonged contact with the surface may result in injury.

7. Does the heater provide a healthier living environment?
Yes! ECONO-HEATERS eliminate the usual dust disturbances that cause problems for allergy sufferers because ECONO-HEATERS do not use a fan. They will not combust dust particles and produce soot deposits accompanied by the typical burning smell associated with other heaters. Additionally the low wattage of the heater and completely encapsulated elements does not dry out the air.

8. How do I install the heater?
In less than 10 minutes a heater can be mounted to a wall in three easy steps with the new patented ECONO-KIT included with the product packaging - see the instructions page for more detail (click here).

9. Where should I install the heater?
For maximum efficiency, the ECONO-HEATER should be installed about 150mm (6 inches) off the floor or skirting board.

10. Will the heater match my room décor?
Yes, ECONO-HEAT panels can be designed to blend in with any environment. You can paint them to match the exact colour on your wall or contrast for decorative effects.

11. How reliable is the heater?
ECONO-HEATERS are constructed in such a way that they can be left on indefinitely. The heating elements are completely encapsulated within the panel and not exposed to the air. This means that dust will not collect on the heating wires and eventually cause a burnout, as is the case with many other types of heaters. Additionally, ECONO-HEATERS do not need a fan, which is a high failure item on other heaters that use a fan to blow hot air into a room.

12. How long will it take to heat my room?
It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to reach its maximum surface temperature and approximately 15-20 minutes to heat your room.

13. Does the Econo-Heater need a thermostat?
Each Econo-Heater, when running continuously, is designed to heat a 100-150 sq. ft. area to approximately 21-22 degrees Celcius. However, thermostats are recommended for additional energy savings, especially during the start and end of the heating season when mild conditions make it unnecessary to run the heaters continuously.

We currently carrry the PSP300 plug-in programmable thermostat for personalized temperature control and even greater energy savings. We also have the simple-to-use APT2 dial control thermostat. Both models plug directly into your wall outlet with no hard-wiring required! Click here for more info.

If you choose, you can also hard-wire Econo-Heaters into our selection of 120V line-voltage thermostats, or any UL-approved 120V line-voltage thermostat (including 2-wire baseboard thermostats). As with all electrical work, we recommend that you consult a qualified electrician and check with your local building codes before doing so.

14. Can timers be used to control Econo-Heaters?
Yes, as long as the timer has a 5A resistive rating or better. Many of our programmable thermostats, including the PSP300, also have built-in timer features.

15. What is Econo-Heat's return policy?
If for any reason you desire to return merchandise to Econo-Heat you may do so within 30 days of purchase for a product refund.
